Chili Con Carne with Tomatoes (Iron-rich)

Chili Con Carne with Tomatoes (Iron-rich)

1 1/2 lb. ground beef
2 medium onions, chopped
1 can (28 oz.) tomatoes
1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
1 Tbs. chili powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 can (16 oz.) kidney beans, drained
  1. Brown ground beef and onion in a large skillet.
  2. Drain off fat.
  3. Stir in remaining ingredients and heat to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat, cover and simmer about 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

Servings:  6     Amount of iron per serving: 5.7 mg.
