Mission of Teller County Public Health - To prevent disease and to protect and promote the
health of Teller County, Colorado citizens by assuring quality preventative
health programs and services.
What is Public Health? It is monitoring the health status of the Teller County citizens
and forming community partnerships to identify and solve heath problems.
It is informing, educating and empowering the community to take control of its
health. As we advance into the new millennium, Teller County Public Health
looks forward to working with the community to address issues of teen pregnancy,
drug and alcohol use, and access to medical care. Our goal is to develop
policies and plans that support individual and community health.

Who do I contact with rabies concerns?
Rabies is a preventable disease of mammals most often transmitted through the bite of a rabid animal. The vast majority of rabies cases reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention each year occur in wild animals like raccoons, skunks, bats and foxes. If you are bitten by a suspected animal, contact your health provider immediately.
If you have concerns in Teller County regarding rabies and a domestic animal please contact Teller County Animal Control at 719-687-9652.
If you have concerns in Teller County regarding rabies and a wild animal please contact the Colorado Division of Parks & WIldlife at 719-227-5200. After regular business hours please contact the Teller County Sheriff's Office at 719-687-9652.
EXCEPTION: For bat issues or dead wild animals contact Kurt Dahl at Teller County Environmental Health at 719-687-5250.
Environmental Health also approves permits for trapping of wild animals on private lands.
