The Teller County Medical Reserve Corps

The Teller County Medical Reserve Corps website is located at Teller County MRC.

The Teller County Medical Reserve Corps is made up of volunteers willing to help the community in any disaster situation requiring volunteer medical resources.  It was established September 2007 to support Teller County Public Health and the Teller  County Office of Emergency Management. TC-MRC is part of the Teller County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) which includes representatives of all organizations with disaster response resources.

Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) units exist in all 50 states and are part of the national disaster response network under the office of the U.S. Surgeon General.  There are 19 units in Colorado.

Currently in Teller County, the TC-MRC interim organizing team is working on the next phase of operating structure and enrolling volunteers.  TC-MRC is initially recruiting Medical Professionals who are licensed or certified by the State of Colorado (MDs, DOs, RNs, LPNs, CNAs, EMTs, etc), and experienced medical adjunct personnel who have experience working with patients (such as medical office staff, Public Health staff, hospital unit secretaries, medical records personnel, etc).  Recruiting will include all eligible volunteers residing or practicing in Teller County.

The TC-MRC interim team consists of Dr. Heather Sharp, Ideal Family Healthcare; Sharon Saunders, Pikes Peak Regional Hospital (PPRH); Martha Hubbard, Teller County Public Health; Sherril Sirochman, Teller County Public Health; and Neil Botting, at-large volunteer.  In addition, advisors to the team are Lt Greg Griswould, Office of Emergency Management, Teller County Sheriff's Office; Chris Rubin, Director Teller County Public Health; and Candy Shoemaker representing the Teller County EMS Council.

The Teller County Medical Reserve Corps application process may be found online at www.tellercc.com. You may call Sherril  Sirochman at Teller County Public Health at 687-6416 for further information.

An application packet may be obtained at TCPH, behind Venture Foods in Divide or calling Sherril at TCPH at 687-6416.
