health of Teller County, Colorado citizens by assuring quality preventative
health programs and services.
What is Public Health? It is monitoring the health status of the Teller County citizens
and forming community partnerships to identify and solve heath problems.
It is informing, educating and empowering the community to take control of its
health. As we advance into the new millennium, Teller County Public Health
looks forward to working with the community to address issues of teen pregnancy,
drug and alcohol use, and access to medical care. Our goal is to develop
policies and plans that support individual and community health.

Grape Tomatoes Sold at Safeway Stores in Colorado Recalled Due to Salmonella Risk
Denver — State health officials are warning consumers that a specific lot of grape tomatoes supplied to Taylor Farms Pacific have been recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination.The recalled tomatoes were used in packaged salads made by Taylor Farms Pacific for several retail stores. However, in Colorado, only products sold at Safeway stores are affected by the recall at this time. According to a Safeway representative, all recalled products were pulled from Colorado store shelves on Saturday, April 30. No illnesses have been reported to date.
The following Signature Café products sold at Safeway stores in Colorado are included in the recall:· Chef salad in 11-oz. plastic trays with use by dates of 4/30/2011-5/5/2011 and UPC code 21130-06252· Cobb salad in12-oz. plastic trays with use by dates of 4/30/2011-5/3/2011 and UPC code 21130-06251·
Greek salad in 13.5 oz. plastic tray with use by dates of 4/30/2011-5/3/2011 and 4/30/2011-5/5/2011, and UPC code 21130-06257
Tomato mozzarella salad (sold at the deli counter) in varying sizes with use by dates of 4/30/2011-5/6/2011, 4/30/2011-5/7/2011, and 4/30/2011-5/8/2011, and UPC code 21256300000
Individuals who may have purchased any of the recalled product(s) are advised to discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.Salmonella is a foodborne bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
