Indian Cabbage

Indian Cabbage

This dish containing cabbage, spices, and lemon juice is simple and healthy!  Click "Read more..." for instructions.

Prep time:  5 minutes                        Cook time:  10 minutes
1 medium cabbage
1-2 Tablespoons sunflower or olive oil
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
½ teaspoon whole cumin seeds
½ teaspoon turmeric
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoon coriander powder
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
 

Wash and chop cabbage into ½ inch shreds.  Heat oil in large heavy skillet or soup pot. Add mustard seeds.  When they pop, add cumin seeds, turmeric, and coriander powder.  Stir well.  Add cabbage.  Cook 5 to 10 minutes.  Stir in salt and lemon juice.  Remove from heat and add the honey (if you use it).
