About TCPH Health Screening

What is TCPH?

Teller County Public Health is a department within the Teller County Government here to promote our Vision of "Healthy Mountain Living" in our community.  Our Mission is to "prevent disease, and to protect and promote the health of our citizens.  Our goals include: 1) To identify the needs of individuals, families and the community in order to collaborate, develop and design programs to address public health needs 2)  To provide resources, referrals and health education for prevention of disease through multiple strategies, and 3) To assure quality and fiscal responsibility in all programs and services.  We are funded by tax dollars and individual state and private grants we apply for based on community assessment data and state legislation ( exp. tocacco tax dollars) and fees for services and donations by individuals and businesses (pharmacy fund that is a joint intiative with Community Partnership of Teller COunty).

Our governing board is the Board of Health (aka: the County Commissioners) and also involves a volunteer advisory board made up of Teller County citizens.  If interested in the advisory board, please contact Chris Rubin, Director of Public Health and/or Karen Muntzert, Office Manager (11/2008).

What can we do for you?

Promote your health through lifestyle education, support through case management and activities including our pedometer program through Public Health, at worksites and in the community/schools through individuals and groups.   Offer immunizations to prevent communicable diseases for both children and adults. Do women's health screening and referrals for cancer prevention through PAP tests and mammogram referrals for screening through the State Well Women's Connection (WWC) and Title X. Offer screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections to both men and women.   Support  the Women's, Infants and Children (WIC) program to provide supplemental food for pregnant women and children until 5 years of age to promote healthy pregnancies and healthy babies and children until their 5th birthday.  Consult and/or partner with your Board, agency, business or organization, individual, family or group related to health issues.

How do we do that?  Please see specific links to all of our programs for details on each one.  Or call 687-6416 and ask to speak to an individual responsible for that program.

Testimonials

It helps so much with arthritis....

"The joy is seeing other people becoming more active and feeling better. It's just wonderful. That is the reward of this program.

I find it helps so much with arthritis or any disabilities.  I can tell the difference. Others see how active I am, at the age of 90+, and they say, 'I want to be like you' and I say, 'Well, get up and MOVE! '"  Mildred, Woodland Park, CO
